When I finished selecting the vignettes, including more than I knew were needed so as to give an editor some choices, I sent it off to my agent who sent it to Dorothy Briley at Clarion Books.

On March 25, 1991 Dorothy wrote back to my agent:

So - back to my typewriter I went to write other vignettes.

At the end of April, it was again ready for Dorothy to see it.

In June, she wrote to my agent:

Reading what Dorothy had written, I recognized that the key to the entire revision -- was: When was this taking place?

It took a while but I finally came up with the following:

And that made this one possible:

as it did the rest of the new vignettes that I wrote.
